PRW (Wally) Martin

 

Wally died in November 2000 in South Devon, Wally was 3 Troop Sergeant, being one of the original members of the Squadron when they formed in Palestine in 1942 made up of those who had already served in the 8th Army in the desert after North Africa and Italy with the 4th Parachute Brigade 1st A/B Division. During the Battle of Arnhem with the squadron he was wounded and taken POW. He was for a short time after WWII in a Para RE Sqn in 44 Airborne Division TA in Croydon. He was a builder by trade and later worked as a civilian in the Royal Engineers Work Services. For many years Wally attended the Arnhem Pilgrimage's

Wally was a member of the 4th Parachute Squadron RE (1942/4 Reunion Club)
