Ronald White

"Every day is a bonus" was his daily motto and he lived and breathed it up to his last. Ronald S. White 87, of Magalia, passed away on May 17th 2009. Born in Reading, England on January 18th 1922, Ron spent his childhood in Hastings and proudly served Britain during WW2 in the 1st Parachute Squadron of the Royal Engineers. A survivor of the infamous drop at Arnhem, a member of the historic Red Devils, he embraced life and all that it offered.

He met and married his wife Irene in 1947 and soon immigrated to Canada eventually locating in the US. Together they shared a rich full and blessed 62 years, the last seven on the Ridge. He and Rene made every effort to cross the 'pond' to attend the 1st Para Sqn reunions.
His close friends, family and all fortunate enough to have met him will miss his never-ending philanthropy, lively spirit, quick wit and remarkable stories.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Peter White; daughter, Kathryn Thomas and her husband Jon; and grandsons, Jack and Dean Thomas. No service was held at his request.
